Star Stuff

In the Cosmos series, Carl Sagan used the phrase “star stuff.”

In the first episode, called “The Shores of the Cosmic Ocean,” he said:

“We’re made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself.”

In episode VIII, “Travels in Space and Time,” he said:

“The earth and every living thing are made of star stuff.”

In episode XIII – the final episode – “Who Speaks for Earth”, he said:

“Star stuff, the ash of stellar alchemy, had emerged into consciousness.”

In some ways, this writing effort is my emergence into consciousness, and I acknowledge Dr. Sagan’s contribution and inspiration to that consciousness.
